According to Indian media on December 10, 2024, industry body ISSDA urged the government to formulate a separate policy
for the stainless steel industry.
ISSDA is following up with the steel ministry on a separate policy proposal for the stainless steel sector, ISSDA chairman
Rajamani Krishnamurti said in a video conference on Tuesday.
“ISSDA has submitted a separate policy proposal for the stainless steel sector to the government. The ministry has taken a
positive view on it,” he added.
The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) has submitted two to three drafts to the ministry. In a separate
statement, ISSDA said India's stainless steel consumption has increased from 4.02 million metric tons (MT) in FY2023 to
4.46 million MT in FY2024, a year-on-year growth of about 11%. This includes both flat and long products.
